PRESS NOTE
STRICT COMPLIANCE OF THE PROVISIONS
CONTAINED IN THE FLAG CODE OF INDIA, 2002 AND PREVENSION OF INSULTS TO
NATAIONAL HONOUR ACT, 1971.
There is a trend of hawkers selling
plastic National Flags at all places during Independence day and Republic days
celebrations. Plastic Flags are not biodegradable and are not eco-friendly.
Appropriate disposal of such plastic Flags is a matter of concern as it
violates Section 2 of the Prevention of insults to National Honour Act 1971.
Hence, it is an appeal to the
general public through press media for not to sell the plastic Flags during
Independence day celebrations-2014 and strictly comply the provisions of the
above laws and implement the instructions issued by the Government of India.
